The
following jennets were all purchased with the intention of
keeping them as a part of our breeding
program here at Pekard. They were all carefully selected
for the quality, and conformation, they would bring to our
herd.
Some have extensive pedigrees, some not. We have changed
our direction to focus on our Blk. & Spotted Herd, and this is the only reason, this excellent offering of fine jennets
is being made available for sale at this time. We also have
a nice selection of geldings of all ages for sale. Included
for sale, we have two potential herdsires, we will hold till
spring. Please contact us for further details on their pedigrees & special features. |

| Pekards Skipper |
DOB: May 18/09 |
Well
here is our only other Skippy daughter, being offered for
sale this year. As with all our weanlings, the names we
are using to identify them, are just pet barn names, till
we get to know them and can give them names that either
reflect their bloodlines, or personalities. She is another
stocky small donkey with a beautiful head, so familiar
with all Skip daughters. |

Kewpie |
DOB: May 28/09
|
If
loud colour is what you are looking for to spice up
your herd, look no further. Kewpie is getting to be
a “darker
spot” by the month, and she may yet go to the much
coveted black & white spotted pattern. She will at the very least, be a rich dark brown & white. With her good square stance, she has that “post in every corner” look
we here at Pekard strive for. |

Jezzi |
DOB: Jun. 15/09
|
It
seems this year Jeremiah, our spotted herdsire couldn’t
miss. No matter what colour the dam, the spotted genetics
we counted on Jeremiah to produce for us, came through
like a charm. Jezzi is a fine example of this, with her
dam being a black/brown, her daughter is a lovely spot
pattern. Jezzi is like her mother and inquisitive, and
loves close contact at all times with her humans.A very
gentle sweet little donkey. If there are kids about,
Jezzi will seek them out. |

Jemma |
DOB: Jun. 15/09
|
Jemma
started out in life, a nice brown and white little donkey,
and as you can see, she is anything but a plain Jane
now! Her colour is definitely the shade we are striving
for. Her dam is a true black and it really shows in Jemma’s
loud black and white spot pattern. This is the most difficult
to produce, and a real bonus having it in a jennet foal.
This colour combined with her really nice square conformation,
makes Jemma a winner all the way around. |

Cherry |
DOB: Jun 17/09
|
Cherry
is another loud coloured daughter of Jeremiah. She came
into the world a little haywire, as her dam gave birth
to her, under a fence. The dam was on one side of the
fence, and the foal was born under the boards on the
other side.We have the pictures! It had no effect on
the donkeys, but it sure reminded us here at Pekards,
why it is so important to be on hand for every birth. We
have security cameras throughout the barn. Cherry has
a really nice mixture of white and brown spotting, and
makes her very easy to spot, way out in the fields. Her
dam is another very black donkey, with a steady temperament,
that Cherry has inherited. |

Keester |
DOB: Jun.19/09
|
Keester
is an insult to her dam. Keepsake is the only un-friendly
donkey I have personally met in 30 years of donkey
raising. Her daughter Keester, has been choosing our
company over her dams, since she was 2 days old, much
to the chagrin of her dam. When she returns to her
dam after following us everywhere, she is met with
a "mothers tough love". This has not discouraged Keester
from being the friendliest of twenty foals, born this
year. Go figure! |

Nana |
DOB: Jul.20/09
|
Nana
is the Tom-Boy of the jennet foals. She is pure black,
with a little soul to match. Although quite petite,
and born later than the others, she makes up for this
with a very cheeky personality. She prefers to hang
out with gelding colts, and is always late for dinner.
She is easy to spot in the foal herd with her black
face, and banana ears! She takes after her sire Rastus,
and not Sassy her dam, who is very laid back. |

Tic |
DOB:
Oct.16/09
|
Well
her dams name is LUNA, and she is so tiny, well we
just couldn't resist naming the baby TIC. There must
be something to be said for late foals, as we find
Tic to be another very out-going bold, "I'm not afraid
of anything" type of personality.
We purchased Luna from Texas, and we all thought she was barren as she never
seemed to "catch". We were delightfully surprised at
birth of Tic, after Luna spent last fall/winter keeping
Jeremiah company.

DOB:
May 5, 2008

Ebony
is our resident comic. When she was at OVC, keeping
her Mom company, while she was recovering from cesarean
surgery, she earned the distinction of this title. She
kept everyone entertained stealing cell phones, stethoscopes,
and whatever she could grasp, while they were examining
her dam.. she has kept up her antics, since they returned
home . She is another black donkey with a dark sense
of humour. That aside, she is a black beauty with a
stellar pedigree. Her dam Ajustabo, is well known in
“donkey circles”as a superior brood jennet.

Beta |
DOB: Jul.0/07
|
Until
Oct.09 Beta was half of a driving pair. Then the other
half, her full Sister was sold to Nova Scotia.I’m sure
with a little work, she would quickly Catch on to driving
as a single donkey. She is a lovely laid back little
brown Jennet, very much like her dam Sassy. She came
to us via her dam in foal from Saskatchewan. If she
is not sold by spring 09 she will be bred to Jeremiah.

Elegance |
DOB: Jul.01/07
|
Elegance
is easily recognized in our herd, because of her really
loud colour. One would have to look far and wide to
find a jennet that would come close to her colour pattern. We
are offering her for sale, only because we can’t keep
all of them, and her bloodlines are not as compatible
with our program as some of our foals, that we will
be keeping.Elegance will be old enough for breeding
this spring. She is a rare find, with all that colour,
youth, and really biddable personality, and carrying
dual registration.

DOB: Mar.02/06

Malle
is nice sturdy little brown jennet, that embodies all
the really great things that make up a miniature donkey.
She has really nice conformation combined with a truly
affectionate sweet intelligent personality. She had
her first foal for us this spring, and has been a great
mother, with no problems along the way. She craves
human contact, and will follow you around like a dog.
She would
make
a great child’s pet. |

Parfait |
DOB: Jun.3/05

Parfait
had her first foal for us this spring, a lovely spotted
boy sired by Jeremiah. He is not weaned yet, and the
two of them could still be sold together. Her son “Periwinkle”
has been gelded already. Parfait can be bred to the
jack of your choice in spring of 2010.Her son would
be an excellent driving donkey.

R US Keepsake |
DOB: Jul.10/03
|
Keepsake
is a great looking donkey with a nice deep pedigree,
and she has given us two really nice foals since we
brought her up from Kentucky USA. She is the only donkey
we have that does care much for people. This does not
affect the behaviour of her foals, which are over-friendly
towards people She is very well bred, and is a hardy
donkey, that would make a good companion for horses,
as well as a good brood jennet.

Sassy |
DOB: Jun.02/03
|
Sassy
has been really good to us as a brood jennet. We bought
her from Sask. and she was in foal, with a foal at
her side, both were jennet foals. She has since given
us one more jennet foal, and we are in no rush to part
with her. We have kept two of the foals, so we really
have enough of her” line” in the herd , and could offer
to a suitable home, that was looking for some of her
world famous “Circle C” bloodlines. She is a great
mom, and needs little attention rearing her lovely
foals.

Pimienta |
DOB: Oct.22/97
|
Pimi
and her daughter Luna were both purchased from Texas.
They were both quite wild when they arrived, and both
have come around very nicely.Pimi however would prefer
not to be handled but stands well for the vet and farrier. She
would do well as a companion for young horses. She is
bred for a spring 2010 foal, and has been confirmed
by ultra-sound. She is also an excellent mother.

Tostita |
DOB: Apr. 23,2008
|
Tostita
is the smallest jennet in the herd, and will remain
that way .She is 29” now, and will not mature much
past 30”.She is the very definition of fiesty. When
Tostita wants something, she gets it, or everyone within
earshot knows about it! Typical of anything of LN breeding,
she is a superior jennet. Small, but with really nice
conformation, and a good square stance to her. she
is definitely an eye catcher.

DOB:
|
We
are listing these two together, as they are like two
peas in a pod. They have the same sire and were born
days apart, and have grown up together. Most donkeys
have a special friend, but in this case the familial
ties, seem to make them an even closer pair. We often
have to look close to tell who is who. They both have
Black Jacks gorgeous head, and deep intelligent eyes.
They would really make a nice starter pair.
